Pre-Planned, Thursday, April 22, 2010

Reading: Psalm 37:23-24, 23 The steps of a man are established by the LORD, And He delights in his way. 24When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong, Because the LORD is the One who holds his hand.

There are planners and there are people who fly by the seat of their pants. But, let’s say that you’re a planner. You have planned a week long trip for your family. You have scheduled pit stops, made dinner reservations, hotel reservations, purchased tickets to events at certain locations and mapped out the entire trip. Every single detail is planned and taken care of. You all load up into the rental van and you’re off. Right after you start heading down the road, the complaining begins. “I have to go to the bathroom”, “when are we going to stop”, “it’s hot in here”, “I’m hungry”, “why do we have to do that”, “I don’t want to eat there”. All of a sudden you realize that hardly anything that you had planned is actually happening. You begin getting extremely frustrated and begin wondering why you even bothered spending all that time planning. There’s just no consideration for all the planning that you did or any appreciation at all. God has pre-planned our steps and He is thrilled when we follow His way. What an amazing and understanding Father that we have. Even when we fall, getting off course, He promises that He won’t let us get too far off of His plan because, He’s holding our hand. I wonder, with God establishing, or as another translation puts it, “ordered” our steps, how much time we spend asking Him what He has planned for your day, or our trip. I wonder how much time we spend complaining about the “plans” that He has made for your day, your trip. Men, let’s make today a day that we decide that we are going to consult the “planner” of our day trip, try to see what He has planned and just enjoy His perfectly planned and orchestrated day… no matter what that plan holds for you today.

Take some time right now and ask God to reveal His plan for you today.

What do you sense God has planned for you today?

Are you willing to go on this trip today and enjoy His plan? How will you do that?

REVIEW

What did God have planned for you today that may have been out of the ordinary?

How were you able to appreciate His plan and enjoy it in ways that you may not normally?
