Come Close, Saturday, June 5, 2010

Reading: James 4:8a, Come near to God and he will come near to you.

Write down the name of the person that lived in the last 200 years that you would love to see and get close enough to talk to?

If you were able to go somewhere where that person was going to be, today, and you had a “pass” that allowed you to be ushered to the front of the line and speak to that person directly and spend some individual time with them but, when you got there the crowd was enormous and dense, what would you do? Would you walk away? Would you give up? Seriously, write down what you would do:

There are many times that we struggle with feeling distant from God. We act as though God has walked away and left us. God has promised though: “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,” Deuteronomy 31:8. If God has not left you or forsaken you and He promises that if you come near to God, He will come near to you, is there ever a time that we should feel distant from Him. With that being said, what are you willing to do to overcome any crowd, road block, detour or barrier to come closer to God. Men, there are times that you may not feel like God is talking to you but He is! Sometimes, it is a whisper… because a whisper causes you to stop what you’re doing, come closer to Him and give Him your undivided attention.

How will you pursue God today to come close to Him and give Him your undivided attention?

(If your answer to the previous question is filled with more determination, then there is something wrong, men.)
