Accept Them Saturday February 26, 2011

Reading: Romans 15:7, Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

I love walking into our living room and seeing our little girls sitting or laying on the floor coloring. Although our oldest is getting pretty good at drawing and coloring, the littlest, well, let’s just say that she tries really hard. But, when she holds up her picture and says, “Daddy, look”, with a huge smile on her face, I, of course, praise her as if it were a greater work of art than anything that Michelangelo did. The thing is, I’m not just acting that way. Through my eyes, this sweet, little girl just made something that, to me, looked splendid.

It’s funny because God is the same way. Compared to His creative power and genius anything we could create or accomplish pales in comparison, almost like the crayon scribbling of a two year old. Yet, through the eyes of a loving Father, He looks at the work that we do for Him and, genuinely, thinks it is wonderful. This is how much He loves us and accepts us, even with our inadequacies.

God, in turn, demands of us that we accept one another in the same way that He accepts us. Wow! Are you truly able to grasp that? He, the creator of the world, the Savior of the world, accepts you; and, you, a sinner saved by grace, should be accepting your brothers in Christ in the same way.

What failures do you have in your life from which Jesus still accepts you?

How will you accept others today in the same way that Jesus accepts you?
