Reading: Mark 6:30-31, 30The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. 31Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."
King James translates this verse “Come apart or you’ll come apart”. Being a workaholic is a constant treadmill, hoping someone will notice you… that you’ll get your strokes. Hoping somebody will say you are good enough. I believe the real reason for fatigue is our desire to be needed. God’s great Holy joke is this, that everyone who has walked this earth ahs the Messiah complex. “Here I come to save the day!) Only One person never suffered from the Messiah complex, and He was the Messiah. Rest was a regular practice of Jesus.
What was Jesus’ greatest passion? Was it healing, preaching, teaching? No. It was getting away to spend time with His Dad.
Luke 5:15-16, 15Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
What typically keeps you from withdrawing to spend some time with your Heavenly Dad?
What can you do today to get some rest and spend some time with Him?
Take that time today. Find your rest in Him and spend quality time with Him.
