Today, I Trust!

Reading: Psalm 91:1, He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

What are you counting on for security? An IRA for your retirement? An inheritance from a wealthy relative? A CD account? Good health so you can work until your 70? These are all important, but none of them is really secure.

Before continuing on, if possible read the rest of Psalm 91 and read it out loud! The first couple verses remind us who God is and why we should trust Him. Verse 5 talks about the “terror of night”. This is talking about darkness. Darkness seems to threaten their sense of security. Do your fears increase at night? Do you worry more at night? Does your partner? If so, what do you ask of God at that time.

In the last few verses, the Lord himself speaks, promising to rescue us, protect us, answers us, be with us, deliver us, honor us, satisfy us with long life. Why? … because we love Him… but be careful. God is not saying that He will get you out of every trouble. He may not make all your troubles go away but He is saying that He will be with you during the difficulties. Are you facing something today in which you need to be reminded of God’s promises in Psalm 91? Talk with God… express your trust in Him.

Really take some time and think through what are fears that you are experiencing in your life. What are those?

14"Because [you have] loved Me, therefore I will deliver [you]; I will set [you] securely on high, because [you have] known My name. 15"[You] will call upon Me, and I will answer [you]; I will be with [you] in trouble; I will rescue [you] and honor [you].

How can you surrender those fears to God today and live in these verses?

REVIEW

Were you able to release your fears to God and rest in His promises in verses 14-15?

How were you able to accomplish that today and how did it impact your day?
