true Friends, August 3 2011

True Friends

Reading:II Thessalonians 1:12, If your life honors the name of Jesus, he will honor you. Grace is behind and through all of this, our God giving himself freely, the Master, Jesus Christ, giving himself freely.

Because we tend to become like our friends, we must choose our friends carefully. Our friends influence us in ways that are both subtle and powerful, we have to make sure that our friendships are pleasing to God. Some friendships help us honor God; these are friendships that should be nurtured. Other friendships place us in situation where we are tempted to dishonor God by disobeying His commandments. These friendships have the potential to do great harm.

C.S. Lewis once said, “In a circle of true friends each man is simply what he is, stands for nothing but himself.”

When we spend our days in the presence of godly believers we are blessed, not only by those friends but also by our creator.

Who would you consider to be your five closest friends? Next to each name, write a brief comment about how they impact your relationship with God:
