Just Passing Through

Reading:Hebrews 11:8-10, 8By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9By faith he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise; 10for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

Abraham recognized his temporary status. The earth was a temporary dwelling place for him. He was a stranger… he worked with worldly people around him and still had a great reputation. He was respected by others. But, he never got caught up in the lifestyles of the rich and famous of that time.

He knew he was there for a reason. He knew that God had called him for a task even though he “died in faith, without receiving the promise”, Hebrews 11:13.

Where is your focus today? Is your concern directed more toward the little world around you?

Times are difficult when we are outnumbered by unbelievers and surrounded by a lifestyle that doesn’t reflect the presence of God. Take courage… you too are an alien. This world is not your home. You are just passing through.

Men, God has you exactly where you are for a reason.

How can the fact that you are just passing through make an impact on your day?

What are some areas in which you are struggling to accept where God has placed you and how can you give those to God today?
