Choose Today, Saturday, January 1, 2011

Reading: Joshua 24:15, 15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

Happy New Year! Men, this is the day! New Year’s resolutions or not… you have the opportunity to choose to serve the Lord today.

Unless your heart is far from the Lord, all of us would jump up and say that we would choose to serve the Lord. Let me ask you a series of questions, though, before you offer your final answer.

What attribute about serving the Lord is desirable to you?

How often are you seeking the Lord for areas in which He wants you to serve or are they areas in which you want to serve Him?

If the area of service is not going to get noticed at all, does it seem just as desirable to you... no comment, no compliment, no recognition, not even a glance?

In what areas of serving the Lord are desirable to you? (be specific about what you are wanting to be involved in for His service)

Challenge: Men, let’s choose today to serve the Lord, not choose to do God a favor and help Him out where we want to help Him, but, truly serve Him. The areas that God is leading you to serve Him, begin that process.

REVIEW

What areas of service did God lay on your heart today to serve Him?

What would be the next step to pursuing these areas of service?
