Imitation, Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Reading: Ephesians 5:1-2, 1Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Have you ever been to a class at a gym that was lead by an instructor? Even if you haven’t, just picture a large room where every surface of every wall is covered with mirrors, so you can see the instructor that much easier. With all those mirrors, the idea is that you can see every move, from every angle you need to see them, so that you can mimic every single motion your instructor makes. Our walk with Christ would be so much easier if we could actually see him, just as clearly as we see that instructor in the gym class, but I don’t really think life was meant to be that easy. We, as Christians, are instead given an instruction book to follow after, and it doesn’t get any more simple than when the Bible tells us to “Be imitators of God.” Follow His every move so that, when we have “trained” enough, we can go out and be a reflection of Christ to them; a mirror, if you will.

Are you really asking yourself, What Would Jesus Do?

After whose life do you model your own? God’s or man‘s?

How can you be an imitator of God today? (be specific)
At work?

At Home?

In General?
