Reading: Psalm 18:1, I love you, O Lord, my strength.
I’m sitting at my computer looking at a picture drawn by my daughter, a colorful beach scene complete with a sandcastle and seagull. Scrawled across the bottom is simply,
“To Dad Love, Grace.”
Why do I stare at it? Maybe because I like the starfish with a smiley face. Maybe because I’d like to be at a beach right now. Or maybe it’s because my heart jumps a beat knowing my daughter in all her busyness (which is constant, by the way) took time out of her day to remind me that I am loved.
I sure needed to hear that today. Some days my life seems too fast for even me to catch it. And I bet (according to my wife) so is my daughter’s. But at that moment on that day, I was on her mind. I was most important. I was reminded that I was needed, and I was loved.
As I thank God for my daughter, I can’t help but reflect on how much I love our Heavenly Father, yet I forget to tell Him. Every time I open the Bible, I’m reminded of His love for me. So how can I show Him my love? The same way my daughter showed me. I can take time just to tell him He’s on my mind, He’s most important, and He’s loved.
Take some time out of your day today, and tell your Heavenly Father that you love him!
Remember: “God loves each of us like there is only one of us to love.”
When can you spend some time today reminding God how much you love him?
What are some specific things about God you can thank Him or praise Him for?
