Let it Go July 12, 2011

Let It Go!

Reading:Colossians 3:13, Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

When you show forgiveness to someone, including your spouse, you find relief from the conflict within you. The pain you have felt for days, weeks or years is healed. When you forgive someone for hurting you, you perform spiritual surgery inside your own soul. When you cut away the wrong that was done to you, you are able to see your “enemy” through the eyes of Christ.

Here is a great example from the life of a great artist.

Leonardo DaVinci was one of the outstanding minds of all time. I was told that just before he started work on his “Last Supper” he had a violent quarrel with a fellow painter. So angry and bitter was Leonardo that he was determined to paint the face of his “enemy” (the other artist) into the face of Judas. In doing this, He could take his revenge by handing the man down in infamy and shame for generations. The face of Judas was the first face he finished. But, when Leonardo came to paint the face of Christ, he couldn’t make any progress. Something was holding him back, frustrating his best effort. He came to the conclusion it was because he had painted his enemy into the face of Judas. He therefore painted out the face of Judas by painting a new face in its place. He was then able to paint the face of Jesus and this time with the success for the ages. The lesson? You cannot one in the same time be painting the features of Christ into your life and paint another face with the colors of hatred. Let it go!

What are some things that you are holding onto that others have done?

How are you painting those into your life?

How can you not simply forgive but demonstrate your forgiveness today?
