Power of Prayer
Reading: Acts 4:24, 30-31, 24When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. "Sovereign Lord," they said, "you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them. 30Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus." 31After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
Acts 12:5, 7 & 12 , 5So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. 7Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. "Quick, get up!" he said, and the chains fell off Peter's wrists. 12When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying.
Men, do we really believe in the power of prayer? Do we… really?
Let’s bring this home in a practical sense:
If you had some time at all, in the car, during lunch hour, after the kids go to bed, or any other time which would you choose? (be honest… circle the selection that matches what you currently would choose)
Prayer or Television
Prayer or Computer Time
Prayer or Eating
Prayer or Golfing
Prayer or
I’m sure the list could go on about the different things that we would most likely choose over spending time in prayer. I’m talking real time in prayer… not just praying the blessing on the food either.
Men, today take the time… some real quality time to pray. God is ready to hear from you today. He stands ready to answer your prayer in a very powerful way, if you only speak to him with sincere faith in your heart.
REVIEW
Were you able to spend some quality time talking to God today?
Explain how you felt and how comfortable you felt speaking with God.
As with any relationship, you become more comfortable speaking with someone the more you talk to them and you build that relationship stronger.
