Reading: Luke 10:33-34, 33 Then a Samaritan traveling down the road came to where the hurt man was. When he saw the man, he felt very sorry for him.34 The Samaritan went to him, poured olive oil and wine on his wounds, and bandaged them. Then he put the hurt man on his own donkey and took him to an inn where he cared for him.
I’m the type of guy who wants to help to make the world a better place. But, some days I’m really not sure how I am doing at it. Jesus told the story of the “Good Samaritan”, (a man who helped a fellow traveler when no one else would. Maybe that’s the simplest answer. To help those that no one else will.
When bad things happen in our world, there’s always something we can do. So, what can you do to make God’s world a better place? You can start by being available. Telling the Lord, “Here I am, Lord… whatever you need from me today, I’m your man.” Maybe it’s by loving the unlovable, forgiving the undeserving, or offering grace instead of justice.
There’s really only room for one on a donkey… maybe I can walk for a while.
Be sure to keep your eyes open. There are a lot of lonely travelers.
How can you make yourself available today?
What can you do today to go where the needy might be, along the way?
What can you do to meet their needs?
REVIEW
