Reading: II Corinthians 13:11, Finally, brethren, farewell (rejoice)! Be strengthened (perfected, completed, made what you ought to be); be encouraged and consoled and comforted; be of the same [agreeable] mind one with another; live in peace, and [then] the God of love [Who is the Source of affection, goodwill, love, and benevolence toward men] and the Author and Promoter of peace will be with you.
I was watching the news the other night when the weather report came on. I was reflecting how the report lets you know the current weather conditions as well as what to expect for the next few days.
If you were to evaluate the current conditions of your marriage in meteorological terms, what would your weather report say?
Just like the weather, some conditions change daily or weekly, some men might describe their marriage as “plenty of sunshine and warmth with a gentle breeze”. Others might say, “Light rain which will give way to a calm atmosphere.” Still others would describe their marriage as one major storm front after another with blizzards, hurricanes, or even tornado-like conditions.
As you reflect upon the current status of your marriage, what is the forecast for the future?
Is the outlook bright and encouraging or consistent storm patterns swirling around?
Paul’s words of counsel in today’s verse can stabilize a marriage. Through talking and listening, differences with your wife can be resolved and peace can be achieved. How can this verse be reflected in your life and in your marriage today?
