Reading: Mark 2:3-4, 3Some men came, bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. 4Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on.
That’s the kind of friends that I desire. Men that will, at any cost, bring me closer to Jesus. A pastor, by the name of Norman, tells a story of when he met Henry Ford in 1921. He approached Henry Ford and asked to shake his hand. Mr. Ford extended his hand and asked, “Who is your best friend?” Not waiting for a response, Ford tore off a piece of paper and wrote the following, “Your best friend is the person who brings out the best that is within you.” Ford then said to Norman, “Think about this and always associate with the best men you know.”
When was the last time that you spent more than a month or two in an effort to bring a friend into the family of God?
Who do you consider your best friends?
Do these men bring out the best in you, in your pursuit of God? Why or why not?
Are you the type of friend that brings out the best in those friends that you listed, in their pursuit of God? Why or why not?
If God is speaking to your heart about your friends or about you being a true friend, what can you do today to address this in your life?
Challenge: Bring a friend to the feet of Jesus today.
