Fight the Battle, Thursday, November 18, 2010

Reading: Judges 3:1-6, 1 These are the nations the LORD left to test all those Israelites who had not experienced any of the wars in Canaan 2 (he did this only to teach warfare to the descendants of the Israelites who had not had previous battle experience): 3 the five rulers of the Philistines, all the Canaanites, the Sidonians, and the Hivites living in the Lebanon mountains from Mount Baal Hermon to Lebo Hamath. 4 They were left to test the Israelites to see whether they would obey the LORD's commands, which he had given their forefathers through Moses. 5 The Israelites lived among the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 6 They took their daughters in marriage and gave their own daughters to their sons, and served their gods.

God in His wisdom knew that if all of the land and Israel’s enemies were conquered at the time, then the next generation would grow up without knowing how to defend itself and to see God’s hand in destroying their enemies instead of just hearing the stories. But, Israel, instead of using the “test” for the purpose that God intended, “to make them stronger”, they used it as a means of sinning against God and served other gods. There are things that God is allowing in your life as tests. The purpose is not for you to fall, though, or to become discouraged. It is for you to fight the battle, to gain more experience as a warrior of the faith… to rise up and fight against it! The last thing He wants is for you to fall. Often times we choose to “serve other gods” with the tests and temptation, instead of seeing the REAL battle and test. Men, let’s rise up and fight the battle today!

What are some tests that you are experiencing?

Are you rising up and fighting the battle or have you been defeated by the test?
It’s never too late, let’s rise up today and fight the battle. Choose to totally destroy the enemy today and gain victory over the test that God is allowing for your experience to make you stronger as a warrior of the faith!

REVIEW

How did you fight the battle and overcome your tests today?
