Reading: Romans 12:1, 1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.
It’s amazing to listen to people who have near death experiences. Every day, every moment seems to be viewed as a bonus, as if they should not be here to experience it. Imagine that happening to you… you have a near death experience. You are driving home and you quickly glance to your side and there is a car plowing into your side. The next thing that you know. You wake up with a sheet pulled over your head in the hospital and hear the doctor say, “Time of death…” Even though you’re about to be pronounced dead… you are alive to the doctors dismay. How would you view your life? That is it, as Paul said, “In view of God’s mercy… offer your bodies as a living sacrifice”. If it were not for God’s mercy, you would be spiritually dead, without life. God has given you eternal life. I know sometimes that has simply become words but let that sink in, “ETERNAL… LIFE”… because of His mercy. You had a near spiritual death experience. Now, look at your day as a bonus today to live as a living sacrifice to Him, who has granted you this day. Notice, when you get to the end of the day, it is not whether we lived up to our measure of what we may accept, but whether it was “holy and pleasing to [Him]”. What will your spiritual act of worship be like today?
How can you offer your body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Him today?
Specifically what are you going to lay on the alter and sacrifice to Him today (specific struggles in thought, attitude, action)?
