Full Orchestra

Reading:Ephesians 4:12-13,  12to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Whether it’s in the middle of a man’s movie like “Braveheart” or the world renowned event like the Olympics, we all have heard it. If you watched a horror movie without the orchestra playing in the background, making the scene more intense, it just wouldn’t seem as thrilling. Trust me, I’ve tried muting it before, it just doesn’t have the same effect. Orchestras, whether we hear them in such settings that are more man approved as mentioned or we enjoy going to see a live orchestra in concert, we have experienced the affects that their music produces. Orchestras are truly remarkable, yes, as a man, you can still appreciate such things. The “first chair” violinist tunes the entire orchestra to be perfectly in tune with his violin. Most orchestras have around 100 musicians performing. Each one playing their individual instrument to produce amazing works of art, which puts you on the edge of your seat during an intense moment, gets your chest welling up at the climax of victory on the battlefield, amongst many other moods and feelings that they can tend to portray with the sound of their music. Just to give you a little flavor… remember the Jaws movies?... and the theme song when the fin would be spotted coming out of the water? Anytime you hear that same music, what do you think about? Exactly! Wouldn’t it be amazing, if we all tuned our lives to Jesus, and allowed ourselves to be truly directed by the Holy Spirit? Can you imagine the music that we could produce with the unity of playing our different instruments together under that leadership? We would be “the whole measure of the fullness of Christ’s” orchestra. We would be setting the mood to the world of the rich, beautiful sound that the Body of Christ makes.

What is keeping you from being unified with your brother(s) in Christ?

What will you do today to become unified in Christ, so we can be a full orchestra?
