She’s the Enemy
Reading:Proverbs 6:24-28, 24 keeping you from the immoral woman, from the smooth tongue of the wayward wife. 25 Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes, 26 for the prostitute reduces you to a loaf of bread, and the adulteress preys upon your very life. 27 Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned? 28 Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched?
Why do we tend to read these verses and get a perception in our minds of a prostitute standing on the street corner? Men, we need to realize that it isn’t the woman that is trying to get you to fall; it is the devil knowing exactly how he can get to you. He will not dress the temptation up in something that is ugly and unappealing. He will make it as desirable as he possibly can. Get rid of the mental picture that the women talked about in these verses are dressed up prostitutes, rather, they are women that you see every day. They are the women in the online ads, they are the women in the annual swimsuit issue, they are the women in the Victoria Secrets commercials, she is your “friend” who is going through marital problems who you “want to be there for”. We could have the list go on and on, but, men, we know exactly who they are. We just do not want to view them as they really are. They are the enemy! They are the enemy of your purity, they are the enemy of your marriage, even as the verse says, they are the enemy of your very life. Many a man has fallen by the wayside with everything that they hold dear in life being destroyed because of some smooth talk, captivating beauty or lust that they thought was just in their mind and heart and didn’t think it would affect anything else, or even under the guise of “trying to be there” for a woman, which is not your place. Just as Solomon said, as I paraphrase, “Do you really think that you can do this, you can entertain the idea of this woman, and not have it cause destruction in your heart, your life and your home?” Did you really think that could happen? Men, let’s pull off the blinders and see the enemy for who they are. She is not your hot, dream girl. She is the enemy of your soul! Guard it!
In what ways are you struggling seeing the enemy for who she really is and what will you do today to put a stop to it?

Anything that the enemy can use to distract us, he will. It could be the thought of having a new "toy" that you just can't live without. You dwell on it and obsess over it and after a while it consumes your every thought. You will justify to yourself how it will improve your free time and that you work hard and you deserve it. That is how the enemy works. As long as he has you not thinking on the things of God, he has your attention!
