Reading: Luke 10:38-42, 38As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. 40But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" 41"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, 42but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
Have you ever found yourself saying or have heard it said, “Stop what you’re doing, and listen to what I’m saying”. It’s times that we want to make sure that the person to whom you’re trying to communicate is really understanding and getting what you’re trying to tell them. I wonder how many times God wants to say that to us, “Hey, stop what you’re doing and listen!” In such a busy society, we see the value in what we are doing, but do not see the value in being still and listening.
Today, STOP what you’re doing throughout the day and listen to God and what He may have to say to you. One of the easiest and best ways of listening to God is reading His Word and allow Him to speak to you.
Today, be creative in your effort to “listen” to Him.
Don’t be like the child who you’re trying to give instruction to but are distracted by all the other things around them. Remove the distractions today and make a conscious effort to LISTEN to Him with your undivided attention.
What distractions may you have to eliminate to really listen today?

Many times while I'm riding my motorcycle, I find myself praying and thanking God for His goodness and faithfulness. I find myself singing that David Crowder song: He is jealous for Me!
ReplyDeleteWith today’s memorial service it really makes me think am I spending my short time on this earth doing what Jesus wants of me, or what I want of me…”spending our time” the word spending really ties our life into Sundays message of “where our treasures are” makes one think.!
